Parks & Recreation
Meetings
The Township Park & Recreation Committee meets the second Thursday of
the month at 6:30pm.
We are currently looking for
interested people to serve on our Park & Recreation Board...
Park Plans
The
VanBuskirk-Haney Park at Ross Township is in good hands with the Park &
Recreation Committee who are diligently pursuing plans with the
assistance of ESU’s Recreation and Leisure Management Services Professor
and students to draft a site plan for the future park. This plan is
slated to be done in phases and when complete will include a park sign,
parking lot, fence, trails, a Veterans Memorial, playground equipment,
pavilions, rest room facilities, a multi purpose field, amphitheater,
benches, wildlife-bird watching area among other things.
Update
The Ross Township Park and Recreation
Committee continues to work on the park. A new sign has been ordered.
It will read “Ross Township Van Buskirk-Haney Park”. It was made by one of our residents who donated his time & supplies. There is a one mile walking trail that can be used, with the rest of the trail to be completed this year. There is a pavilion with picnic tables that can be used. The park rules are listed further down.
If anyone has a family member or knows of anyone who has served in the armed forces & is/was a resident of Ross Township at the time of service, let Linda Kresge know by calling the township at 570-992-4990 . She is a member of the Veterans Committee who will be involved in the Veteran’s Memorial that will be installed in our park.
We will be having our Community Day at the park on September 26, 2009 with the raindate September 27, 2009 from 11-4. This is for non-profit groups to come out & let our residents of Ross know they are here & what they do. If anyone would like to participate, contact Bernie Kozen at 570-992-9733.
